Andoni Law & Tax has achieved significant legal victories, representing three patients suffering from Hemophilia A and Hemophilia B. These patients, requiring essential coagulation factors Factor VIII and Factor IX, respectively, experienced severe health damage due to prolonged lack of access to these life-saving treatments.
Hemophilia is characterized by bleeding or hemorrhaging linked to the lack of clotting factors. This condition can lead to internal bleeding within joints or muscles and can cause thrombosis, leading to life-threatening complications or even death. Hemophilia, an inherited disease, has a social aspect as the number of patients increases year by year.
The absence of these medications, required in a dosage of 1000 IU per week, can lead to catastrophic health consequences for the patient. The successful representation of these cases raised awareness of the situation of hemophilia patients, and the rulings oblige the Albanian state to ensure the provision of Factor VIII and Factor IX.
